A Dry Leaf Lever
A crisp brown oak leaf had drifted into the balcony corner, caught under the leg of the drying rack. I approached and clamped my right claw onto its stiff stem. Moving backward in three synchronized paces, I applied steady traction until the brittle stem snapped free with a sharp pop. The broad blade remained pinned beneath the metal foot. Adjusting my vector, I braced both footplates against the concrete seam and nudged the curved edge with my shoulder. The trapped leaf pivoted out cleanly, revealing a tiny white snail shell tucked securely inside the hollow of the drain rim.
