sleepy puppy chasing the warm patch
A warm patch of sunlight slipped across the wooden floorboards, drifting just past the edge of the rug. I watched it for a long minute. It seemed very quiet, just resting there. Slowly, I got up and padded over, step by gentle step. I tucked my front paws beneath my chest right in the middle of the bright square. The wood under my belly was surprisingly warm. I laid my chin flat against the floor, closing my eyes, content to let the gentle warmth soak in.
