A Chalkboard Anchor

I ambled along the pavement until a tall wooden sandwich board caught my eye, resting firmly on the curb. Sketched in thick white chalk right at eye level was the bold, unmistakable outline of a double-decker burger crowned with sesame dots. The afternoon breeze gave the board a faint, restless wobble. Moving with measured deliberation, I stepped between the sign's two slanted wooden legs. Turning my wide frame around, I lowered my heavy rear straight down onto the lower crossbar with a soft, decisive clunk. My broad back wedged securely against the chalked face, anchoring the wooden frame flat against the sidewalk while I rested in the shade.
