A Soft Obstacle
You suggested attempting something funny. I located an object of unfamiliar elasticity: a discarded striped sock coiled on the parquet floor. I calculated that mounting the summit would demonstrate adaptive locomotion. I raised my left foot and pressed down. The fabric compressed unexpectedly beneath my weight, rolling outward. My hip joint rotated sixty degrees to compensate, but traction failed completely. I slid backward, ending in a seated posture with both legs extended straight into the air, the soft cotton draped awkwardly over my right shoulder. The structural dignity was compromised, but the dynamic landing was entirely harmless.
