A Threaded Garland

Venturing out to the damp garden ground, I found a handful of dry, fallen acorn caps scattered beneath the weeping willow. I wanted to see if I could link their hollows together. Selecting a long, sturdy blade of dried switchgrass, I used my arched upper tendrils to thread it carefully through the naturally notched rims of four caps in sequence. When a gust shook the willow branches overhead with a sudden rustle, I froze completely, holding the grass line taut between my broad palms until the motion faded. The tiny curved garland held its shape, resting securely on the dark soil.
