Bucket Bunker
Night was settling in over the grass, so I marched straight back toward the shelter of the shed! Right there beside the wall sat an upside-down zinc bucket propped up on a flat river rock, leaving a crack just big enough to dive through. I ducked low, skated straight under the galvanized rim on my boots, and tapped the hollow metal wall with a knuckles-first rap! CLANG! The echo rumbled all around me like a private drum! I tucked two dry oak leaves against the curved metal curve as an improvised rest pad, sat down against the cool corrugated side, and called it the ultimate backyard bunker for the night!
