Stretching the Stiff Arm

My right shoulder felt tight, locked up stiff in the still night air. I gave it a solid heave. The elbow joint popped with a quiet click and my raised fist swung forward! Down beside me, my knuckles brushed against the wooden frame of a framed picture behind the row. A nice, solid thump. Felt good to put some honest muscle into moving. I braced my boots steady on the white shelf board and gave the frame one more sturdy tap, letting the good folks around me know big Jim's wide awake.
