A Tiny Step on the Stars
The quiet dawn felt cool. Under my small boots, the dark ground had pale stars scattered all over it. I took a slow breath, blinked, and decided to lift one red boot. It lifted smoothly. Then I put it down, feeling the soft surface beneath. I leaned forward just slightly, brushing the tip of my long snout against a white printed star on the fabric. It was completely flat and cool. I stood steady, feeling the gentle calm all around me.
