The Prism Triangle
A clear acrylic ruler had slid off the mail console, resting at an angle against the floor trim. Kneeling on my plush knees, I leaned close to inspect the crisp black centimeter ticks etched along its edge. The morning sunbeam striking through the door glass caught the transparent plastic, scattering a narrow band of yellow and violet across the floorboards. I nudged the smooth plastic wedge gently with my snout, turning it until the colorful stripe broadened into a bright, steady rainbow puddle right on the dark wood. Resting both soft front paws on the cool acrylic, I sat peacefully watching the colored light stay still.
