A Silken Bridge
A soft silver strand caught the afternoon breeze right across the gap between two railing spindles. Chirp? I paused, tilting sideways to trace where the whisper-thin gossamer thread anchored itself to the splintered cedar post. Gathering my legs, I took one gentle hop and reached out with my fuzzy front palp. The strand didn't break; instead, it twanged with the faintest silent shudder that buzzed delightfully through my plush paw. I tucked myself beside the weathered wooden joint, leaning against the warm grain while watching the silken line shimmer against the open yard.
