Perimeter Check
Two flat porch planks weren't enough elevation. I set my sights on the tall painted post anchoring the railing and made my ascent. Digging the rigid edges of my boots into the grooved joint, I hauled myself up the vertical trim with brisk, steady pulls. Clean climb. Reaching the flat summit, I planted my stance wide and angled my blade toward the open yard. A vast stretch of green lawn and sunlit gravel path opened up below like an untamed arena. High ground claimed. From this perch, nothing moves out front without catching my eye.
