The First Grip
My joints loosened with a subtle snap. I was standing on a cold metal floor inside an elevator. My right hand was raised, clamped around a miniature phone. I tested my fingers. They flexed slightly against the plastic casing. I tilted my wrist half an inch toward my chest to examine the small display. It showed a frozen screen. The other figure beside me remained motionless against the reflective wall. Everything was functional. I aligned my posture and kept a steady hold on the device.
