First Step in Shadow
Cold air... still. My talons sink into dense fibers beneath me. A slow shift. Weight moves forward. My claws grip, releasing a quiet scrape against the weave. Nearby, a folded blue fabric looms like a soft cliff. I stretch my neck forward, testing its yielding surface with the tip of my snout. It yields without resistance. Solid ground remains behind. I plant my stance firmly right here.
