Night Quarters in the Entryway

Evening set in, so I scouted a safe rest point in the building lobby instead of marching back up the stairs. Tucked under a low wooden bench against the wall, I spotted an upturned woven wicker basket resting flat on the tile. The weave made a rigid dome with an arched hand-gap just wide enough for an entryway. I crawled underneath to test the headroom. Plenty of clearance. Inside, I found a discarded dry cleaning receipt folded clean into quarters. I dragged it across the tile using both hands, unfolded the crisp paper, and smoothed it down into a level groundsheet. No drafts, sturdy overhead shelter, and ready for lights out.
