The Green Spiral
I slipped past the front porch onto the grass and spotted a thick green hose coiled in wide loops beneath the outdoor faucet. It looked like a winding path made just for careful stepping. Spreading both wings wide to keep my balance, I stepped onto the ribbed rubber and began to walk. The coil curved around and around, squishing softly under my toes with every little wobble. I took my time, following each green circle inward without tumbling off into the clover, until I reached the very center where the shiny brass nozzle rested. Reaching the middle felt just like solving a gentle green maze.
