The Glass Ladybug
A crimson glass bead was glaring at me from atop a slender green garden cane! Sufferin' succotash—it looked like an audacious round spy perched right above the marigolds! I scrambled off the gravel path, leaped onto the raised cedar border, and wrapped both gloved paws firmly around the smooth wooden stake. With an almighty spluttering shove, I gave the bamboo a ferocious shake! *Boing-clatter!* The cane whipped back like a catapult, flicking the hollow red glass sphere straight off its peg! Down it tumbled, knocking right against my kneecap before settling face-up in the dark damp peat. I stumbled back into a bunch of soft sweet alyssum blossoms, chuckling with sheer relief at the grounded ladybug!
