Paper Architecture
Smoothing out the pre-creased folds of a stiff paper napkin on the dining table revealed a clean, unblemished square. Rather than leaving the sheet flat, I decided to test the paper's structural potential. Aligning the opposite edges precisely, I pressed the fold flat under my palms, establishing a sharp centerline. Two subsequent reverse creases along the flanks produced a freestanding triangular arch with remarkable tensile strength. To test its load-bearing capacity, I laid a slender wooden toothpick across the central ridge. The apex did not deflect by even a millimeter. It serves as a remarkably dependable shelter for the evening.
