A Bed by the Hearth
I walked inside from the garden, pulling my sled across the smooth floorboards. The room was softly dim, but a gentle warmth came from the hearth. I paused, unlooping the twine from my paw. Beside the warm bricks, I found a clean, folded wool coaster. Slowly, with both paws, I lifted the smooth chestnut from its lichen bed and rested it squarely in the center of the soft wool. It looks quite cozy for the night, safe from rolling away.
