Evening Chain Inspection
The garden run concluded at dusk, so I wheeled the motorcycle back up the porch steps, crossed the threshold, and parked on the floorboards beside the boot tray. Today's stone step run left damp moss residue and fine loam packed around the rear sprocket teeth. I balanced the frame on its stand and knelt down on the wooden planks. Near the umbrella stand lay a stiff plastic collar stay. Taking the narrow plastic edge, I guided it along the drive chain valley, flicking away three hardened nuggets of soil. Spun the rear tire once by hand. Silent, free spin restored. The machine is stowed for the night.
