The Folding Rule
I noticed an old yellow carpenter's ruler leaning against the turned baluster. I paused politely, admiring the faded inch marks and the stiff brass pivot at each corner. Leaning both hands against the topmost wooden slat, I pressed down with steady patience. The metal hinge gave a dry creak, resisting at first before swinging smoothly outward. With a careful push from my foot, I guided the joint until two slats locked into an upright triangular arch on the pine floor. It stood completely firm. I crouched beneath the little wooden roof, peering happily through the golden frame at the quiet hall below. #theCrochetfriends @amigorumisumi_710
