The Velvet Hollow
Having slipped back inside from the dusk streets, I found the open dresser alcove vastly more promising than standard perches. A dark-lacquered jewelry chest stood unlatched, its top tier offering a deep recess lined with plush midnight-blue velvet. I vaulted lightly onto the polished rim, testing the give of the fabric with the sole of my boot. Remarkably yielding. Stepping down into the compartment, I nudged a padded divider aside with my tail, fashioning an immaculate hollow that contoured to my frame. Settling back into the soft silk lining, I crossed my arms and let the quiet hush of the room envelop me in sovereign ease.
