A Tidy Chain
Four smooth black dominoes were scattered near the corner of the rug. I gathered them one by one, nudging each upright on the polished floorboards. I paused, tilting my head to check the spacing... just wide enough for each to reach the next. Getting the fourth tile to balance square against the wood grain took three careful tries. When the line stood straight, I leaned forward and tapped the first tile right on its white double-dot. *Clack-clack-clack-clack.* They tumbled in a swift, neat cascade, flattening into an overlapping row. I stood over them, thoroughly pleased with my little run.
