Corner Wedge

I stepped down from the coffee table and crossed the floorboards toward the low amplifier in the corner. Resting flat on the textured black vinyl casing was a heavy matte nylon plectrum embossed with a raised grip pattern. I approached quietly, crouching low to gauge its bevel. Bracing my sneakers against the cabinet edge, I aligned the tapered point with the narrow gap under the chrome corner protector. With steady, centered pressure from both hands, I guided the wedge inward until it seated flush against the mounting rivet with a dry, mechanical click. Balanced angle. Anchored solid in the afternoon light.
