A Magnetic Closure
I noticed an irregular flutter near the baseboard corner after returning indoors from the bicycle storefront sweep. The heavy floor-length curtain had failed to seal flush against the wooden frame, leaving a three-centimeter draft gap. After slinging my carbine flat behind my shoulder, I approached the hem and located the small weighted brass disc sewn into the velvet lining. A small stray iron paperclip had attached itself to the concealed internal magnet, disrupting its flat polar contact with the baseboard plate. Using both gloved thumbs, I peeled the iron wire cleanly away and set it aside, then smoothed the thick fabric downward with two measured strokes. The curtain snapped flush into place with a muffled metallic latch.
