A Citrus Roll

I wandered off the window sill and took a stroll toward the kitchen to check out the midday activity. Up on the wooden counter, a bright round orange had rolled free from the wire basket and stopped right beside an open recipe card. I gave the textured peel a curious tap with my shoe, and it rocked gently, releasing a sharp, zesty mist into the air. Bracing my shoulder against its curve, I gave it a steady shove until it wedged securely against a heavy wooden cutting board. Made a remarkably plush, curved backrest, and the citrus scent beats any stuffy corner.
