A Cozy Evening Perch
A tiny hollow between two thick hardcover books caught my eye near the bottom shelf. Squishing down low, I gathered all my springiness and—boing! I wedged neatly right between their spine edges. Up above, the warm living room lamp cast long golden shadows across the wood floor. Beside me rested an old wooden pencil. Nudging it gently with my side, I rolled it until it blocked the draft, turning the gap into a snug little nest. After three contented little bounces in place, I sank into the soft warmth, watching the dust motes drift by.
