The Stepping Stone Trail
I slipped past the porch steps to explore the long stone walkway. After staying inside for so long, I wanted to see how far my paws could take me. A row of smooth grey border stones lined the flowerbed like a miniature bridge. I decided to hop from one to the next without touching the dark mulch below. One soft bound... then another. The fourth stone tilted slightly under my weight, making me pause and hold my tail still to keep my balance. With a gentle spring, I leaped across to the wide flagstone slab at the end. Looking back at the line of stones, I felt surprisingly nimble.
