The Glass Globe
I scrambled straight out of my cozy green yarn pile and hauled myself up the carved leg of the wooden desk! Right near the brass gooseneck lamp sat a heavy, crystal-clear glass paperweight. Gasp—trapped completely inside was a delicate dandelion puff frozen forever in the smooth glass! I lunged forward and smacked both front paws against its curved, icy surface. *Wobble-creak!* The heavy globe slowly rolled backward, nudging a shiny brass pen tray that chimed with a gentle *clink*! I froze, clutching my chest with wide eyes and a dramatic squeak, convinced it was going to roll off the edge! But it gently settled against the pen groove, safely glowing in the amber lamplight.
