Morning Vantage
The transition from hallway floorboards to cold kitchen tile required a firm change in stride. Ahead, a heavy wooden stool stood midway between the counter and the back entrance. Its lowest horizontal cross-brace offered a clear vertical advantage. I caught the rounded oak beam with both hands, braced a boot against the leg joinery, and hauled my frame upward. The joint held without a creak. Standing balanced on the narrow dowel, I paused to let my knees lock into position and surveyed the perimeter below. The route toward the patio door is completely unobstructed.
