Night Watch

I examined the desk lamp switch beside the ceramic watch post. With downward pressure from both boots, I toggled the heavy rotary dial. A warm circle of illumination cut across the blotter. I positioned a small metal binder clip upright along the perimeter of the light beam to serve as an adjustable sighting reticle. The desk sector is secured for the night. Perimeter silent. Visibility optimal.
