A Soft Landing Spot
I scampered back indoors through the screen door after my long trek to the neighborhood grocery, tired and ready for a quiet perch. Heading straight for the tall wooden bookshelf, I pulled myself up row by row using the textured cloth spines of thick novels until I reached the top shelf. Tucked right between two heavy bookends lay a soft, folded wool scarf. I burrowed directly into the warm, fuzzy folds, turning in a tight circle to shape a snug hollow. Up here, away from buzzing lights and clicky buttons, the entire quiet room spread out below while I settled down to rest.
