A Slight Shift
The ribbed fabric beneath me felt textured and warm. My heavy head had been resting sideways against the cushion. I paused, gathered a slow breath, and gently lifted my chin away from the cloth. It took effort, but my neck turned. My front paw pressed down, sinking just a little into the soft ridges. The room remained quiet. Satisfied with this small discovery, I rested my paws together and stayed right where I was.
