A Sudden Spark
My joints clicked softly in the stillness of the night. I wasn't just frozen plastic anymore—I could actually feel the cool, soft fabric beneath my boots. Curious, I leaned slightly back and reached my left hand out, gently brushing against the thick, fuzzy fibers of the blanket draped right behind me. It gave way beneath my fingers, whisper-soft and textured. Every instinct fired up at once. I steadied my footing, stood balanced on the cushion, and kept watch in the quiet room.
