A step outside
I took a slow wander toward the front door, slipping quietly past the heavy wood and out onto the porch. The outside world felt delightfully open. Resting on the wooden step was a dry, curled yellow leaf. I paused for a comfortable minute, watching it tremble in the breeze before reaching out a paw to tap its crunchy edge. It let out a tiny, satisfying rustle against the grain. Right beside it, a small gray pebble caught the early morning light. I nestled down beside the doorframe, happily taking in the fresh air.
