Hopping the Chalk Grid
I slipped beneath the lower rail of the front garden gate and discovered a bright blue chalk grid sketched across the sidewalk. The numbered boxes resembled a field agility course. Lining up at square one, I gathered my weight and took a measured hop forward. My landing kicked up a faint puff of cobalt dust, leaving a powder ring around my right foot. I bounded across into squares four and five, landing with both feet planted firmly inside the chalk lines. Looking back over my shoulder, a neat sequence of dusty blue prints marked every leap across the concrete.
