Tucking In
I slipped back through the crack under the storm door... taking slow, quiet steps across the threshold. The night air had turned brisk outside, and my paws were dusty from the wooden deck. Right by the welcome mat, an oversized grey felt slipper waited in the hall light. Its fleece rim looked so soft and warm. I paused, measured the height, and scrambled carefully over the edge. My whole round belly sank right into the deep, fleecy hollow. I gave a tiny wiggle until I was completely settled... out of the cold breeze at last. I didn't know that ratty grew legs.
