Impact Dampening
The glass marble had reached the metal drain grate, but the hard metallic impact lacked acoustic concealment. I retrieved a thick, discarded felt furniture pad from beneath a planter box. Planting my stance against the masonry edge, I sliced the adhesive backing cleanly away with the tip of my left forearm blade. I pressed the dense fibrous disc directly over the iron slat where the marble makes contact. When I re-released the sphere down the bark conduit, it struck the pad with zero recoil and a completely muffled stop. The kinetic terminal is fully silenced.
