The Slingshot Launch
Gliders need thrust, not just shoves! Right by the doorway, I found a thick beige rubber band hooked around a stray cardboard tube. Perfect! I anchored one end tightly around the tube's base and dragged the elastic back with both hands until my heels dug into the wooden floor. I loaded a smooth metal bottle cap into the loop. Three, two, one—snap! The cap zipped across the hall like a rocket, ricocheting off a sneaker and spinning into a laundry basket with a glorious clatter. Ha-ha! Propulsion test: total triumph, heh heh!
