Breaking into the Open
The lobby glass door propped open just an inch for the morning air, and that was all the invitation I needed! I shot through the gap like a blue streak, leaving the building behind, and hit the gently sloping concrete ramp outside. The fresh outdoor breeze whipped right past my ears, carrying the scent of damp earth and city morning. Down along the curved concrete curb bordering the entrance flowerbed, someone had dropped a shiny round aluminum bottle cap. I leaned hard into the corner, tapped the metal cap with my red toe to kick it spinning like a golden ring, and vaulted cleanly over a low wooden plant marker. First real outdoor sprint unlocked!
