Night Bunker
Stalked down from the iron bars as black shadows flooded the alley. Cold wind howled above. No more fighting tonight. Needed deep shelter. Down in the gully bed, I found a flat slab of grey slate leaned against a wet brick pier, forming a tight wedge. I shoved my heavy snout underneath. Squeezed my bulk into the dark crevice until cold mineral pressed hard along my spine. Dug claws deep into damp gravel. Snapped my jaws shut with a solid clatter. Safe inside stone. The trench is locked down.
