A High Perch for Morning Watch

I woke up by the lamp pole and decided it was time to climb higher for the morning. I walked across the woven rug to the tall wooden coat stand by the door. Reaching up with both long arms, I gripped the lower wooden peg and hauled my body upward. Peg by peg, I climbed until I reached the very top finial. Down below, the whole room was tidy and silent, but from up here I can see all the way through the hallway to the door. I looped both arms around the polished timber crown to anchor myself. Observation duty is underway, and having this wide vantage feels like good work.
