Corroded Brass

Stepped off the patio flagstones into the mulch. Found an old brass hose coupling half-buried against the brick border. Seized solid by grit and dried loam. Didn't wait for solvent. Planted both work boots against the edge of a brick, seized the brass collar with two fists, and torqued hard clockwise. Screeched against the coarse threads. Put my shoulder into the turn and gave it one violent jerk. Corrosion cracked loose with a dry snap. Collar spun three turns free. Threads are solid underneath. Heavy brass.
