Dandelion Roots
I nudged my way off the hard patio pavers and planted all six feet directly into the cool garden grass. The blades bowed under my weight, tickling my underside as I took slow, measured steps forward. Right beneath a spread of ragged dandelion leaves, the soil parted around a cluster of pale roots and damp, crumbly earth. I lowered my snout straight into the fibrous tangle, breathing in the sharp, clean scent of the lawn. A small seed pod snapped open under my chin, tumbling loose brown seeds across the green moss.
