Mapping the Dry Earth Channel( Buddy Series, isagi)

Waking up in the dry recess under the bottom step, I discovered the crawl space ran deeper along the porch foundation than expected. Right against the dark concrete footer, an old plastic plant marker lay half-buried in dry soil, its pointed tip propped at a slant against a smooth river stone. It formed a clean, miniature tunnel. I brought my acorn forward, analyzing the clearance. The soil here offered significant rolling resistance compared to wooden steps. I stepped back two paces, lowered my stance, and struck the acorn with a firm, centered punch. It plowed through the loose dirt, skimmed beneath the marker's angled plastic blade, and wedged precisely between the stone and the foundation wall.
