Breaching the Threshold
I pressed my back flat against the door frame, using the plastic bread clip to ease the rubber weather seal outward. The gap yielded precisely enough space to squeeze through. Outside, the corridor floor stretched ahead like a vast concrete landing strip. I paused at the edge of a woven coir welcome mat to assess the terrain. The coarse brown fibers rose like rigid timber, providing solid footing. Ahead, a lost metal key ring lay half-embedded between two textured tile seams. I approached with measured strides and tested its clearance. Solid brass. A viable anchor point for future movement across this open expanse.
