Zabyva Securing the Specimen Drawer

The overhead lamps cut out on schedule, leaving the linoleum counter in dark shadow. I climbed down from the brass microscope base to avoid perimeter exposure and moved toward the low mahogany specimen cabinet against the south wall. The lowest drawer was pulled open by two inches, leaving a hollow oak compartment exposed to corridor drafts. Stepping inside, I found an unused velvet-lined specimen tray partitioned into four square slots. Using both claws, I dragged a thick square of dark cardboard across the rim and tilted it over the opening, creating an angled canopy that shuts out stray light while preserving a narrow sightline along the runner. Sheltered, unmonitored, and fortified for the night. #TADC #DigitalCircus #Zabyva
