The Fuzzy Caterpillar

I squeezed past a round rack of onesies and spotted a low clearance bin overflowing with tiny winter socks. One bright yellow sock had little silicone bear faces printed on the sole. I gripped the stretchy ribbing with both hands, shoved both feet inside at once, and gave a tremendous yank. Wiggle, tug, pull—the fluffy chenille snapped snugly right under my chin, turning me into a cozy little sausage! With my legs pinned tight, walking was impossible, so I leaned forward and bounced like a happy inchworm. The rubber treads let out tiny squeaks against the glossy tile every time I landed, making me giggle so hard I nearly rolled over.
