A Cozy Little Crumb Tray

Wiggling through the gap by the glass front door, I slipped outside and followed a warm, buttery breeze down the block to the local bakery. Right inside the entrance sat a low wooden display counter with a polished crumb tray set on a brass rail. A stray pretzel knot had slid halfway off its folded paper lining, dangling dangerously close to the floorboards. I paused, tilting my round head before leaning my soft plush chin forward. With a slow, steady nudge, I guided the salty crust back onto the greaseproof sheet until it settled with a soft rustle. Leaning my plush loaf body against the tray's warm wooden rim, I took in the sweet scent of fresh sourdough.
