A Falling Arc
I found a shallow wooden box of domino tiles resting open near the baseboard. Sitting on the smooth parquet, I picked up five dark wooden blocks with my padded mitts and set them upright in a gentle curve. Each tile balanced on its narrow edge, spaced evenly across the grain of the floor. I crouched low, steadying my boots, and gave the first tile a light nudge with my fingertip. A quick, hollow clatter swept along the arc as each piece tipped into the next, snapping down in a clean fan. I kept my paws resting against the floorboards, watching the neat line rest quietly.
