Joint Inspection
I approached the base of the steel drafting lamp anchored to the desk. The twin tension springs were under steady strain. I placed my hand against the lower pivot joint to test its load resistance. The metal was cold and firm, but a thumb turn bolt had backed out slightly, causing the upper armature to lean forward. I braced the vertical arm against my shoulder until the pivot settled into alignment. The counterweights balanced out. The structure holds.
